Hello and welcome! I’m an accounting professor doing research related to shareholder activism, informed traders, capital markets, and AI. My recent work has examined the long-term effects of activist interventions and the impact of media coverage on shareholder activism campaigns. I have also been bitten by the AI bug and am hoping to develop more projects related to the use of AI by accounting professionals and educators.
I completed my PhD in Accounting at Texas A&M University in 2017, and now I work at Texas State University. I teach graduate-level courses including Advanced Accounting and Professional Accounting Research. My teaching philosophy emphasizes critical thinking and group discussion, learning by doing, and practical application. I’m also a faculty advisor for Beta Gamma Sigma, and for a number of years was a board member of Education Reach for Texans. Working with students to help them achieve their educational and professional goals is the most rewarding part of my job.
My technical skills include statistical analysis, data visualization, and programming in Python, SAS and Stata. My research interest are wide-ranging, but at a broad level, I’m interested in how accounting information is produced, disseminated, and used by various market participants. If you share these interests and want to connect, click the mail icon at the bottom and drop me a line!
