Journal of Corporate Finance
This study examines interventions by hedge fund and other private activists over 20 years, finding positive short- and long-term abnormal returns that do not reverse. Sale demands, more frequent from other private activists, earn especially high returns. Post-intervention improvements in operating performance and firm valuation are observed, supporting the view that activism increases long-term shareholder value.

2021 Reporting of discontinued operations and dividend payout policy
Review of Accounting and Finance
This study examines the relationship between types of discontinued operations and dividend payout policy. It finds that firms temporarily adjust dividend payouts following income-increasing or income-decreasing discontinued operations, with stronger effects for larger magnitude changes and disposal gains/losses. Investors do not react positively to dividend increases preceded by income-increasing discontinued operations.
